Shroots is a proprietary brand of VEXCEL Upkram Private Limited, based in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. The company operates an Integrated Agro-Processing Unit in Ranchi, designed under the guidance of experts from the Spices Board of India, CFTRI, CIMAP, and CIAB. We have adopted unique and specialized process flows to achieve the highest industry standards.Industrially, we have procured specialized machines, many of which are custom-made, and devised process-specific production lines that meet the best quality standards, yielding uniform and high-value products.
Dehydration removes moisture from food, preventing the growth of bacteria, yeast, and mold, thereby preserving the food. With most of the moisture removed, the food becomes smaller and lighter. When needed, water can be added back to restore the food to its original shape.
Both terms, ‘Drying’ and ‘Dehydration,’ refer to the removal of water. The practice of drying or dehydrating food for preservation is ancient. ‘Drying’ typically refers to processing using non-conventional and uncontrolled energy sources like sun and wind. In contrast, ‘Dehydration’ involves removing moisture through the application of artificial heat under controlled conditions of temperature, humidity, and airflow.
Drying or dehydration removes biologically active water, halting the growth of microorganisms. This also reduces the rate of enzyme activity and chemical reactions. Dehydration is performed in a manner that retains the food’s nutritional value, natural flavor, color, and characteristic cooking quality, while only reducing the moisture content.
We emphasize the term ‘DEHYDRATED’ for our products because, unlike the conventional practice of open sun-drying, we use specialized Hot-Air Dryer Machines. The primary advantages of our machine-dehydrated products are:
Retention of Aroma, Taste & Medicinal Properties
Our Air Dehydrating Machines are designed to extract only the water content from Agro products whereas sun-drying on the other hand is an unregulated process and results in loss of Volatile Oil and thus it’s Aroma, Taste & medicinal properties
Microbe/Contaminant-Free Products
The absence of microorganisms and contaminants such as Poly-Cyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH), Salmonella, and Aflatoxin makes our products highly valuable, clean, pure, and unique. Conventional drying methods may promote the growth of harmful microbes and contaminants.
3. Heavy Metals
The presence of heavy metals in the atmosphere is a common occurrence today. Drying products in such conditions can lead to contamination, making them unsafe for consumption. Our Hot Air Dryers use filtered air to dry the products, avoiding such contamination.
Rehydration & Longer Shelf Life
Dehydrated food can be reconstituted by adding water and soaking until the desired shape and volume is restored. These products can be used in their dehydrated, powdered, or reconstituted fresh form. The removal of excess water slows down the enzymatic process and aging, thereby extending their shelf life.
Economic Viability
Our products are economically more viable. Compared to sun-dried crops, which have lesser flavor, taste, and medicinal benefits, a smaller quantity of our dehydrated products can achieve the same results. Effectively, 1 gram of our dehydrated product is made from approximately 15 grams of freshly harvested crop
To optimize packaging and reduce freight costs, we have developed specialized methods to minimize bulk storage space and maximize space usability while maintaining the highest and safest product quality standards.
We have established a highly specialized essential oil extraction line, capable of extracting oils even from low-yield crops like ginger. We use steam distillation to extract essential oils from fresh agro produce. Currently, we supply essential oils from lemongrass, ginger, turmeric, eucalyptus, palmarosa, peppermint and spearmint.
Pulp concentrates are essentially pastes derived from pulp-bearing products, with all excess water content removed. This process extends the shelf life of the product and results in a concentrate that contains more pulp and minimal water. The manufacturing line for pulp concentrates is designed to produce a product with up to 65 Brix, featuring a unique flowability that distinguishes it from other similar products on the market.
